Abfallwirtschaft

Building project:
waste treatment unit

Specification:
The target of this project is to install a state-of-the-art waste treatment unit. On the site first all the deposited waste is to be treated by new sorting and rotting facilities. In a second step, all the municipal waste of the City of Maringa is to be treated on site.

The chosen BIOPUSTER® - process offers the opportunity to convert the organic fraction (55 to 60 %) of the waste into mulch, compost or natural fertilizer. The remaining components of the waste are sorted and prepared for complete recycling. Plastics, glass, paper, cardboard and textiles can be recycled in several ways. The waste treatment unit will have a capacity of 400 to/d or 120,000 to/year.

The solution offers additional effect: the aerobic pre-treatment of waste reduces the methane (greenhouse-gas ) output. Therefore the legal structure of this project now provides the possibility of the benefits of certified emission reductions (CER).

Building project:
Uyo Solid Waste Management Site

Specification:
Waste dumpsites which are not operated in accordance with standard and effective environmental regulations cause enormous environmental problems by exposing water, earth and air to pollutions, thereby endangering the vital components of live and nature that need to be protected. Through water, earth and air the harmful substances get into the food chain or directly into the human body. The lasting risks to the human health call for an urgent solution for waste problem especially as the world population increases at high rate with decrease in the biosphere.

AKWA IBOM STATE and especially Uyo capital city is presently facing the problems of contaminated grounds with disastrous consequence emanating from indiscriminate waste disposal.

Our team offers the opportunity to convert 57 % of the waste into mulch, compost or natural fertilizer. The remaining components of the waste are sorted and prepared for complete recycling. Plastics, glass, paper, cardboard and textiles can be recycled in several ways.

The waste treatment plant is planned for the removal of the domestic waste in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.

In the first stage of project development, the complete waste treatment plant as well as a landfill section require approx. 14,500 m² with approximately 170,000 m³ installation volumes. This is adequate for 4 years operational period; when 60 % of the waste is disposed.

Recylex - Harz-Metall GmbH

D-Oker_HMG-3D-Plan

Building project:
Recultivation of Landfill Site, Oker, Germany

Specification:
Metaleurop grew out of the 1988 merger between Société Minière et Métallurgique de Peñarroya, a company founded in 1881 and the non ferrous metals division of German company Preussag.

Metaleurop is a group that is primarily located in France, Germany and Belgium, with some ten production facilities. Its business activities cover the recycling of lead and plastic (from car batteries), recycling zinc from the dust produced by electric powered steel works, the production of zinc and metal oxides for the electronics industry.

Problem: The temperature of the disposal will not allow to cover the landfills with mineral material like clay, because this materials will dry out very soon and be permeable again. Plastic materials can only stand against a maximum temperature of 40 °C.

Solution: The chosen top covering system is capillar barrier, which contents only of stable material like sand and gravel. There are no problems with high temperature or drying out.

The consulting office Prof. Dr.-Ing. W. Hartung + Partner GmbH work on the factory site in Goslar – Oker, the Harz-Metall GmbH.
